Douglas Hernandez Et al., v. Ramon Rojas and Florencio Paredez dba Paredez Farms (Paredez Farms) Marin County Superior Court Case No. CIV1005180.

On September 29, 2010, Legal Aid of Marin filed this class action together with Carolyn Cottrell of the law firm of Schneider Wallace Cottrell Brayton Konecky, LLP.  The suit was filed on behalf of Douglas Hernandez, Oscar Velasquez, and Pamela Torres, three former employees of Ramon Rojas, Florencio Paredez and Paredez Farms.  The suit seeks relief for the three Plaintiffs and current and former employees, for unpaid wages, meal and rest periods, and penalties for work performed from September 2006 through the present.  Mr. Hernandez, Mr. Velasquez and Ms. Torres seek recovery of unpaid wages, penalties and interest on behalf of themselves and all current and former employees that harvested and prepared the goods for market, transported and unloaded the produce and sold the produce at farmer's markets throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.  They also seek injunctive relief that, if granted, would force the defendants and Paredez Farms to comply with the applicable wage and hour laws and pay their employees appropriately.

Paredez Farms is based in the Central Valley and sells its produce at dozens of farmers' markets throughout the Bay Area, including the farmers' markets in San Rafael and Novato.
