What We Do

Help Tenants & Low Income Homeowners -Housing Related Legal Services-

We assist by providing eviction defense services, foreclosure counseling, reporting of habitability complaints, Tenant organizing and education, assistance for tenant associations, security deposit recovery and homelessness prevention.

 

Help Employees -Employment Related Legal Services-

Education and assistance in filing wage and hour claims for minimum wage, overtime and meal and rest break enforcement.  Advise on employment discrimination claims, wrongful termination issues, improper payroll deductions.

 

Help Debtors -Debt Related Legal Services-

We advise on unfair debt collection, consumer fraud, unfair business practices , insurance claims, claims of exemption and financial elder abuse.

 

Help Families -Family & Dependency Legal Services-

As a member of the Marin County Justice Center, we provide legal assistance and representation to the party of a dispute who is unable to receive assistance from the Family and Childrens Law Center because of conflicts of interest.

Court appointed to represent a parent or child in situations where alleged abuse or neglect has occurred in the home.

 

Help Older Adults -Elder Law Legal Services-

We educate and advise older adults (60+years old) on basic trust and estate issues, advanced health care directives, and Elder financial abuse which includes prevention of investment and financial fraud. Older adults may also receive extra assistance to assert or defend their rights in Small Claims court through the Lockhart Small Claims Project.
