Much of the help we provide at Legal Aid could not be given without the tremendous help we get from our volunteers.
Many volunteers assist with the initial client interview, gathering facts and helping clients sort through their often challenging legal problems. Volunteers are sometimes called on to provide follow-up assistance, or to do more general law office tasks. Depending on your availability, you may even have the chance to develop paralegal skills.
They include college and law students, homemakers, retirees, and former clients. Many of our volunteers appreciate the opportunity to meet and help members of their community; Some folks come to us for experience working in a law office--and they get it! Regardless of why they come, every volunteer gets a rigorous training, support, and the satisfaction of working with a team of poverty law advocates who believe in making their workplace a liveable and enjoyable experience.
